FROM A 25-YEAR-OLD YOUNG MAN
I say #NoToDivorce out of experience. I am courting a woman whose father was divorced and is a daughter from his second marriage. Both her parents raised her well, and, with God’s grace, she grew up as an ardent student and a great teacher. But deep inside her, she is torn. She looks at me as her only friend, the only shoulder to cry on. When I heard from her that she cannot believe she has half-siblings from her dad’s first marriage, it hit hard on me. She and I thought she was the only child, the only girl; but it all shattered with that fateful discovery. Her painful realisation only strengthened our resolve to become role-models to all Catholic couples to be faithful to one another and not give up the ship which is the family. Once we get married, I swore to myself not like to let our children suffer the emotional and mental toil their mother faced.
